How a Green Lifestyle Goes Hand in Hand With Better Eating

Following healthy eating patterns can directly contribute to a greener lifestyle, a greener planet, and generally speaking, a more eco-conscious form of existence. Opting for organic produce, or locally and sustainable grown foods can be an excellent first step in developing a more healthy diet and a greener life.
In total, a green diet and lifestyle benefits the environment to such an extreme degree that we’re pretty much all fools not to adopt better eating habits. Locally grown and harvested produce, soil that is tended to with love and care, and deep connections between the earth and the person eating its bounty are all part of the deal. And what’s best? But before you go running to the exfoliator, you should be aware that most of these skincare products are laced with harmful chemicals that can actually cause more damage than the skin repair it promises.
More than 12 percent of U.S. high school students are obese (≥ 95th percentile for body mass index) and 78 percent eat fruits and vegetables less than five times per day, according to a 2009 survey conducted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The same study indicates that, of the schools surveyed, only 18 percent provide outlets for students to purchase fruits or vegetables at school while 77 percent provide soda for purchase.
