Solar Panel Feed-In Tariff Cut in Half in United Kingdom

From the UK Guardian: Setting sun: solar panels feed-in tariff halved

Solar Panel Feed in Tariffs in UK

Across the UK, many households are cringing over the newest press regarding solar panel installation — and anyone currently in the process of fitting their house with panels is getting ready to complete the process in a hurry, before they lose out on government-sponsored benefits. With just six weeks left to finish the installation of solar panels, those who don’t make the cutoff date will see any hope for extra income generated by energy produced from the solar panels, dashed, as the governments says that feed-in tariffs will be cut by as much as 50%.

With citizens in an uproar over the implied hypocrisy on the part of the self-proclaimed “greenest government ever,” the Tory-led coalition last week broke the bad news, much to the chagrin of the renewables sector. And the news? Only solar panel installations currently underway and completed by December 12, 2011, would get the full payment of funds, as initially promised. That means, many hundreds of people who had signed contracts in place to install solar panels will either have to effort towards expedited installation, or more likely, pull out of the entire process all together. And that means just about the worst possible news for the solar energy efforts in the UK. Continue reading

Environmental and energy security concerns have pushed renewable energy to the top of many governments’ priorities. The UK is no exception. Beginning in 2010, a feed-in-tariff program has been implemented to provide financial incentives to help accelerate investment in renewable energy. These incentives are cost-based, meaning that compensation is dependent on the cost of the renewable energy system.

Solar energy systems are therefore eligible for higher rates than wind due to the relatively higher cost of producing energy through solar technology. Unfortunately, this price advantage is not permanent. In April 2012, the feed in tariff for solar panels will be reduced to reflect the decline in solar panel prices. However, installations commissioned before then will still be guaranteed for 25 years at the current rate.

That leaves businesses, homeowners and public institutions a window of opportunity to take advantage of low solar panel costs and high feed in tariff rates–guaranteeing a great return on investment over the next 25 years. Continue reading

5 Important Things to Consider Before You Buy Solar Panels

When Are Solar Panels A Good Investment?

Solar Panels

Solar Panels

As energy prices climb and the threat of climate change looms, the appeal of renewable resources is rapidly transforming the market–and the way we produce energy. Until recently, energy generated from fossil fuels dominated the market. While it still accounts for the majority of U.S. energy production, renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and geothermal are growing increasingly popular.

Installing solar panels is one of the more practical ways of creating renewable energy on a residential scale. Solar panels can save you money in the long run and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. So when should you invest in a solar energy system? Here are 5 important things to consider before you buy solar panels: Continue reading

Oviera Solar Panel Manufacturers

Oviera Solar Panel Manufacturers

Solar panels have been thought by many to be an answer to looming energy crises in our future.  But how do they work? Solar panels collect and then subsequently convert solar energy into heat or electricity in a process that is complex but also sustainable.

The process allows solar energy to be converted from the sun’s heat and light shining onto solar panels, which is why they are typically placed on the roof of a house or business. The energy from the sun is converted into electricity, and that power, direct and free from the sun, brings the power that we need into our homes and factories to operate machines, electricity and more.

So what do we need to know about solar panel manufacturers then, when we’re out in the world looking for solar panels? Finding a good solar panel manufacturer and distributor with a solid reputation will inevitably lead you somewhere like Shine Solar’s website, and Oviera Solar S.R.L. Like many other solar panel manufacturers, their industrial operations are based in China, making their products affordable. But this company is based in Italy, where they are a market leading force in the solar panel industry. Continue reading
